Independence Day is just weeks away, and if you’re planning a big bash with your friends and family, it’s time to start preparing your drink list. If you’re a family of whiskey lovers, we already know you’ll be stocking up on your favorite bottles – but what about bourbon cocktails?
Extravagant Cocktail Recipes for Your Fourth of July Party
Sure, it’s hard to beat a Glencairn glass of your favorite whiskey and a couple of SipDark’s famous drink stones – but why not go all out? Take a look at some of these classic bourbon cocktails you can create to celebrate the most fun day of the year!
The “New” Old Fashioned
You’ve probably already tried the Old Fashioned – but what about the New Old Fashioned? For this cocktail, you’ll need ice (or SipDark’s soapstone whiskey stones, which work great with this!), bitters, syrup, sparkling water, fresh peach and blackberries, and your favorite bourbon. The fruits add a delicious summery taste to this classic cocktail.
Make sure you use the very ripest peaches you can find to ensure maximum flavor and juiciness. Mash up the fruits together and put them in a glass. Add a splash of bourbon and bitters, along with sparkling water and syrup. Give it a stir and add some freezing cold drink stones or ice cubes. What could be simpler?
The Kentucky Kiss
For the Kentucky Kiss, you’ll need four simple ingredients – maple syrup, lemon juice, bourbon, and strawberry puree. You can make the puree quite easily – simply take ripe strawberries and crush them. You can do this with a pestle and mortar, or simply with the back of a spoon. Mash the strawberries until you get a paste.
Combine the puree with the rest of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, and shake until they’re mixed. If you want to prepare lots at once (and that’s a great idea!) simply mix it all up in a large pitcher. Add ice or drink stones, and you have an ice cold strawberry drink, with a bourbon kick.
The Sweet Meat
The Sweet Meat is another wonderfully simple cocktail that is bound to please your guests. For this cocktail, you’ll need peach bitters, bourbon, and pecan peach water. You need to start by creating the pecan peach water, which isn’t all that complicated. Simply roast some pecans in the oven, and then add them to water that’s boiling over the stove. Add honey and peaches – as much as you like – and let the mixture simmer for a while. Taste it, and when you’re happy, let the water cool down.
To make the cocktail, simply mix the three ingredients and serve in a cocktail glass. You’ll be amazed how peachy it is!
