How to Make a Delicious Fall-Themed Cocktail

Fall is here! What better way to celebrate the beautiful changing of the leaves than with a cocktail the color of a fall rainbow? We’ve whisked up a yummy Scotch-based cocktail that will get you through all the cool fall days. Whether you’re pouring these for a guy’s night in, or just pouring one for yourself after a long day, you’ll love this autumn drink.

  • 2 oz Orange juice
  • 1 ½ oz Sweet Vermouth
  • Grenadine
  • 2 oz your favorite type of scotch
  • Your choice of fruit or garnish.

Prepare two stemmed glasses (preferably cocktail glasses, not wine glasses! If you do not own cocktail glasses, a low ball or rocks glass will do just fine). Fill the glasses three-quarters of the way with ice. Combine all of the ingredients except the grenadine into a cocktail shaker. Close the lid of the shaker firmly and shake until the outside of the shaker is frosty (don’t worry about this if your cocktail shaker is not metal! If your shaker is not metal, simply shake for roughly fifteen seconds). Remove the lid of the shaker and pour the contents into the glasses of ice. Decorate as you like (read on for some fun decoration ideas!).

Once the drink is ready, fill the use the lid of the grenadine bottle to measure one capful of grenadine. Carefully hold it over the center of the cocktail. Slowly pour the grenadine into the center of the drink. The grenadine should sink to the bottom of the drink, giving the cocktail a cool, layered effect that will surely impress anyone who steps into your kitchen!

Now, the best part—enjoying!

How to Decorate Your Cocktail

One of the most fun parts about making a cocktail is creating a custom garnish! Creating a unique garnish is a great idea if you’re making this cocktail for a party or gathering. For this particular cocktail, we recommend using a fresh, fruity garnish, like a lychee. Cut a slit up half of the fruit and place it on the rim of the cocktail for aesthetic appeal. Not a big lychee fan? For a fancier garnish, get two large cherries and a sprig of thyme—the thicker the stem of the thyme the better. Poke the thyme through the cherries, lay across the top of the cocktail, and voila! You have an Instagram-worthy cocktail.
